Castellar de la Frontera is located within the Nature Reserve of Parque Natural de Alcornocales, next to the reservoir formed by the Guadarranque River and situated at the end of a beautiful mountain road that runs off the A368. Part of the village is within the castle, surrounded by the walls of a well preserved Moorish fortress, with the rest of the village houses located outside the castle walls. It is a protected area and thus will have no more building.

There are some restaurants and bars within walking distance and the village has a multinational, friendly atmosphere. The stunning scenery offers acres of walking, cycling, and horse riding, and its elevated position gives wonderful clear views of the North African coast, Gibraltar and the white villages and mountains to the north.

Castellar de la Frontera is 30 min from Gibraltar and the airport, 20 min from the commercial center at Los Barrios with Carrefour, Lidl, Media Markt, Decathlon, Leroy Merlin etc. The ‘new’ village at the foot of the hill has all the usual amenities such as bank, postoffice, supermarket, theatre etc.

Much of Andalusia enjoys in excess of 300 days of sun a year. In Castellar the summers are hot but tempered by pleasant breezes. Winters are mild. It is a very special place to live; peaceful and safe and truly beautiful. This two house property would make a perfect permanent or holiday home.
